Campus / Practice example

The meeting after the meeting

Write down what was decided, who’s doing what and when you’ll check in. Make sure everyone agrees that’s what happened.

The situation

Your campus group has just met to plan an event. One person thinks you’ve picked a date. Another thinks you’ve only agreed to check if it’s available.

Your decision

Write notes everyone can agree on. Be clear about what’s decided and what still needs checking.

Before you respond

  • What did the group actually decide?
  • Which details still need checking?
  • Who has agreed to do what next?

Work through it

  1. Write a short summary with the decisions and unanswered questions listed separately.
  2. Share it with the group and ask if anyone understood something differently.
  3. Write down who’s taking each task and when you’ll check in.
Consider a possible response

“I’ve got us checking the date before we announce anything. Is that what everyone else heard? Who can check availability, and when should we catch up?”

This is one way to respond. Adapt it to your group, your responsibilities and the people involved.
